Shanghai on July 8 introduced its 15th Five-Year plan for rural revitalization. Feng Zhiyong, director of the Shanghai Municipal Agriculture and Rural Affairs Commission, said agricultural science and technology accounted for 81.7% of productivity gains by the end of the 14th Five-Year period, the highest nationwide. He cited breakthroughs in seed innovation, biomanufacturing and smart farm machinery, and said a Shanghai firm this year registered what officials described as the world's first RNA-based bactericide.

UKMTO said it received a report of another incident in the Strait of Hormuz. The tanker reportedly encountered an attack by an unidentified drone and sustained minor damage; no casualties or environmental impact were reported. The vessel is proceeding to its next port of call.
