Typhoon Bawei, the ninth typhoon this year, was at 05:00 on July 9 about 1,210 km ESE of Keelung, Taiwan, with maximum winds near the center at wind-force 16 (super typhoon). Bawei is forecast to move northwest at about 15–20 km/h and is expected to turn toward the waters east of Taiwan tonight. Southern East China Sea winds are expected to increase to force 8–11 overnight. Zhejiang's provincial flood-control command raised its maritime typhoon emergency response to Level IV at 09:00 on July 9.
