Research firm Omdia says PC demand may be weak in H2 after more than half of
surveyed channel partners reported customers are postponing hardware upgrades.
Rising memory and flash costs have pushed retail prices up 20–40%, and Q2 global
PC shipments fell 3.6% YoY to 65.7 million units. Early component-driven cost
spikes prompted some buyers to pull forward purchases. Omdia notes recent
MacBook price increases as evidence of a broader industry trend of passing sharp
component-cost inflation on to customers.
