The Fed began reserve-management purchases in December to offset an expected sharp April reserve drain from tax inflows into the Treasury general account, which reduce banking system reserves as Treasury balances at the Fed rise.

CNN reports the US struck targets in Iran on Wednesday (US time), in what is at least the fourth strike since a US‑Iran memorandum of understanding was signed in mid‑June. So far, retaliatory actions by both sides have remained below the scale and intensity seen during the conflict's early phase.
