Al Jazeera cited Ali Safari, adviser to Iran's foreign ministry spokesman,
saying recent US strikes "will not go unanswered" and accusing Washington of
failing to honour a June 16 MoU that assigns Iran responsibility for future
arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz and requires consultation with Oman and
other states. He said a southern shipping route opened under US pressure is
obstructing the MoU, creating serious safety risks including collision risk, and
criticised vessels switching off navigation systems to transit the route as
irresponsible. He warned the US must either comply with the MoU signed 23 days
ago or abandon it, and said Iran is stronger than expected and prepared for war.
