UK Maritime Trade Operations said on the 12th that the crew of a container ship that caught fire after stern damage 9 nautical miles east of Oman were rescued by local authorities. Crew abandoned ship into lifeboats after the stern fire. Local agencies are investigating and have advised vessels to exercise caution when transiting the area. The vessel’s name was not disclosed.
