Senator Lindsey Graham died suddenly, and his spokesperson said on the afternoon
of July 12 local time that preliminary medical examiner findings list the cause
of death as atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease leading to an aortic
dissection. The medical examiner’s office said toxicology and microscopic
pathology remain incomplete. Aortic dissection is a life‑threatening emergency
involving a tear in the aortic wall.
