On the 12th local time, a US-led maritime information center said the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz off Oman's coast remains open to two-way traffic despite Iranian claims the strait had been closed. The center said US forces are prepared, under international law, to defend freedom of navigation and lawful commercial activity. It added the security threat level in and around the strait remains "serious".

With the November U.S. midterms approaching, time is running out for President Trump, an analyst said. The U.S. is engaged in a costly, unpopular war with Iran, former Austrian defense attaché Wolfgang Pustai said. He said talks Trump hoped to launch under a memorandum of understanding have failed; Iran has resumed nuclear‑related work and continued attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz, leaving Trump with nothing to present to U.S. voters. Pustai added that if Trump makes concessions now the political fallout could worsen for him and cost Republicans in the midterms.
