Ukraine Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko resigned on Sunday; lawmakers said the
move was unexpected and offered no obvious reason. Svyrydenko, who had served
since July 2025, helped negotiate a US-Ukraine minerals agreement seen as tying
US strategic interests to Kyiv’s security. Lawmakers expressed surprise and some
speculated the resignation could be part of a pre-emptive personnel reshuffle.
President Zelenskiy is carrying out a broad cabinet overhaul; Kyiv says it has
gained a military advantage after sustained drone strikes on Russian energy
infrastructure.
