Tariq Khan, retired lieutenant general and former commander of Pakistan’s Frontier Corps, said the US and its regional allies have been driven into a dead end on Iran policy and that recent violence reflects President Trump’s inability to impose his will on negotiations. He called the US‑Iran memorandum clear evidence of a major US failure. Khan said recent US strike attempts have failed and that a credible ground invasion would require about 300,000 troops. He added Trump may want to extricate himself — which could be the only route to immediate peace — but lacks the ability to do so, and questioned whether Israel has used, threatened or coerced US policy, saying that is unknown.
