IDC preliminary Global Quarterly Mobile Tracker shows China smartphone shipments
were about 66.01 million units in 2026 Q2, down 4.3% YoY and marking a fifth
consecutive quarter of YoY decline. Since late March, Android vendors, pressured
by rising core component costs such as memory, have raised retail prices or cut
configurations, visibly curbing upgrade demand. China’s state subsidy program
has lost traction as a demand driver. During the 618 shopping festival, overall
smartphone sales fell nearly 15% YoY, underscoring near-term demand weakness.
