US small-business optimism rose 2.1 points to 97.4 in June, near the 52-year average of 98.0, the NFIB said. NFIB chief economist Bill Dunkelberg said lower fuel costs have provided relief for businesses and consumers and firms expect operating conditions to improve over the next six months, though challenges persist.

Brazilian President Lula on July 13 in São Paulo criticized U.S. President Trump’s proposal to impose a 20% fee on shipments transiting the Strait of Hormuz, calling the measure "pirate behavior" and saying a country long fighting piracy cannot become a pirate itself.
