Shanghai municipal executive meeting, chaired by Shanghai Party deputy secretary
and mayor Gong Zheng on July 14, ordered an accelerated, sprint-stage push to
complete preparations for the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and
the linked high-level Global AI Governance meeting, and directed stronger
support for green, low-carbon agricultural development. The meeting said the
conference carries a national mandate for international cooperation in AI and
comes at a global inflection as AI moves from assistant tools toward intelligent
partners; it will be larger and higher-level than prior editions. Shanghai will
pursue highest standards, premium service and the latest成果, emphasize innovation
leadership to boost international influence, and stage curated inaugural
showcases to comprehensively display high-quality innovations and position the
event as a globally credible AI-technology barometer.
