Typhoon Bavi has produced sustained heavy rainfall in Jilin province. The
Songhua River's Jilin section generated the first flood event of 2026, and the
Meihe, a Huifa River tributary, recorded its largest flood since monitoring
began. Forecasts for July 14–15 call for continued heavy to torrential rain in
central-eastern and eastern Jilin; the Huifa River is expected to exceed warning
levels along its length. Authorities warn of high risk for river floods, flash
floods, geological hazards, small- and medium-reservoir failures and urban
inundation. The national flood control headquarters upgraded Jilin's flood
emergency response to Level III at 16:00 on July 14; previously dispatched teams
are on-site providing guidance.
