PBOC vice governor Zou Lan said at a July 15 briefing that renminbi use in cross-border trade and financing has broadened and offshore demand for RMB funding has risen. Panda bond issuance topped RMB160 bln in 1H26, up over 60% YoY; internationally known issuers are increasing and domestic investors including banks, funds and wealth managers have broadly embraced the product. The PBOC said it will continue to steadily promote high-quality development of the panda bond market and ease offshore institutions' participation in onshore panda bond issuance and trading.
