July 15 — Guangdong governor Meng Fanli met ExxonMobil global senior vice
president Wei Jiekai. Meng urged Exxon to continue investing in Guangdong,
attract more downstream petrochemical firms, and deepen green and low‑carbon
cooperation to help build a world‑class green petrochemical cluster; Guangdong
pledged to widen high‑level opening, enhance a market‑based, rule‑of‑law,
international business environment and provide quality services for Exxon’s
local operations. Wei said Exxon will keep close communication, ensure smooth
project operations, expand cooperation along the petrochemical value chain and
work to make the Huizhou ethylene project a world‑class petrochemical benchmark.
