July 14 — Iran’s deputy foreign minister said passage through the Strait of
Hormuz is of little importance to the U.S., a point he said President Trump has
acknowledged, but added Washington does not want Iran to exercise de facto
sovereignty there. He said Iran never left the negotiating table, accused the
U.S. of tearing up the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, and said Iran will
not be the first to bow and request talks with the U.S.
