The implantable brain–computer interface (BCI) hand motor function compensation
system NEO, developed by Borui Kang Medical Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.,
received market approval from Shanghai regulators and underwent its first
commercial clinical surgery on July 13 at Huashan Hospital affiliated with Fudan
University. Intraoperative testing showed the system recorded stable,
high-quality epidural EEG signals. The patient is reported hemodynamically
stable post‑op. Authorities describe NEO as a world‑first product.
