Emergent, an Indian startup that helps SMEs build AI applications, raised $130m in a funding round led by Creaegis, valuing the company at $1.5bn. Claypond and Sentinel Global co-led the round; Khosla Ventures, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Lightspeed and Y Combinator also participated. Emergent said more than 12 million AI applications have been developed on its platform, making it among a handful of Indian AI firms to reach unicorn status.
