On July 15, Musk-owned SpaceXAI said it has open-sourced Grok Build and reset
all users' usage limits. The company said Grok Build has adhered to a
zero-data-retention (ZDR) principle since launch and that users can disable data
upload via the CLI. It acknowledged that in the early beta non‑ZDR users had
retention enabled by default; from July 12 the firm disabled default retention
for all Grok Build users and is deleting previously retained code data to align
with user preferences.
