A Bloomberg survey found roughly two-thirds of economists expect ECB President
Lagarde to serve her full eight-year term, leaving office when it expires in
October next year. Speculation about an early departure began last year when she
was linked to a possible World Economic Forum role and resurfaced in February
after media reports she might leave early; she did not explicitly deny those
reports. Lagarde has also said she might play a role on the margins of French
politics; France holds a presidential election next spring.
