As the stock of short-dated contracts grows, market-makers’ hedging and option-related trading can become a material price lever: heavy sales of calls on names such as NVIDIA can force market-makers into larger hedges and payout risk if shares rally past strikes, prompting algorithmic and hedging flows that cap gains and pull prices back toward recent averages. The firm warns this can cause spikes followed by quick fades or extended sideways action even when company fundamentals remain strong, and that outside earnings seasons 0DTE options, expiries and algo flow may amplify intraday moves.
