China’s Ministry of Water Resources designated the event Mudanjiang 2026 No.1 flood after the Mudanjiang hydrological station—on a Songhua River tributary—rose to the warning level of 235.00 m at 09:00 on July 17. The ministry has stepped up rain and runoff monitoring, intensified rolling forecasts and warnings, activated flood‑defense emergency response, dispatched working teams to the front line, and urged local authorities to tighten reservoir and water‑engineering scheduling, implement flood defenses and pre‑relocate residents from danger zones.
