The China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) says rapid advances in space and commercial aerospace are making space photovoltaics — the primary power source for spacecraft — a strategic technology for space exploration, satellite communications and space solar power stations. Growth of low-altitude economies and high-altitude unmanned systems is raising demand for highly efficient, lightweight and high-reliability PV systems for extreme environments, accelerating aero-space integrated appl
The China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) says rapid advances in space and commercial aerospace are making space photovoltaics — the primary power source for spacecraft — a strategic technology for space exploration, satellite communications and space solar power stations. Growth of low-altitude economies and high-altitude unmanned systems is raising demand for highly efficient, lightweight and high-reliability PV systems for extreme environments, accelerating aero-space integrated applications. CPIA says developing lower-cost space PV technologies to support future large-scale markets will require coordinated resources from the PV, aerospace and satellite sectors. CPIA is publicly soliciting industry experts to support policy research, technical R&D and standards development in the space PV field.
