On 18 July the Israeli military said the United States will send dozens of
aerial refuelling tankers to land and be deployed at Israeli air force bases,
not Ben Gurion International Airport, to minimise disruption to civilian air
traffic. Israel had capped US tankers at Ben Gurion at 20 to ease interference
during the summer travel peak. The military said the basing choice was made by
the US in coordination with Israel to allow the air force to prepare.
