July 21 — The 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting opened in Manila. Over the next days foreign ministers and senior officials from ASEAN members and multiple dialogue partners will discuss regional security, economic cooperation, global trade and other regional and international hotspot issues; outcomes are being closely watched amid a complex international environment and ongoing global economic headwinds.

Market sources say Egypt is negotiating with energy majors for a multi-year LNG supply deal to purchase 15-18 cargoes per month for 3-5 years.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said at a routine briefing that China has repeatedly set out its position on China-EU economic and trade issues. China regards existing differences seriously and says they can and should be resolved through dialogue and policy interaction. Such disputes should not be used to undermine China-EU trust, justify decoupling or supply‑chain disruption, or serve as a pretext for unfounded accusations. China-EU trade is mutually beneficial; China does not deliberately seek a trade surplus with Europe. Trade patterns reflect international division of labor and comparative advantage. Lin said protectionism is not a viable route and cooperation that delivers mutual gains is the proper approach.
