SEMI projects global semiconductor equipment sales will rise 23.2% in 2026 to $165.9bn and hit a record $229.5bn in 2028, driven by AI infrastructure buildout and investment in advanced logic and next‑generation memory including HBM. Wafer fab equipment is forecast to reach $200bn by 2028 as AI capacity expands and fabs shift to more advanced nodes. SEMI expects 2028 DRAM equipment sales of $56.9bn and NAND equipment sales of $20.8bn; the association represents roughly 3,000 electronic design and manufacturing firms.
