The Jerusalem Post, citing two sources, reported Tehran initiated a mediator-backed proposal for a 10-day ceasefire with the US aimed at resolving Strait of Hormuz disputes. Mediators including senior officials from Qatar, Egypt, Oman and Pakistan have submitted the proposal to Washington and added measures such as a proposed transit corridor to allow safe passage for commercial ships through the Hormuz shipping lane. Sources said the US is seeking to extend the ceasefire and insists on at least a partial agreement on freedom of navigation before any pause takes effect, with remaining details to be finalized during the proposed 10-day window. At least some Trump administration officials described Iran’s offer as “absurd” and “illogical,” and a US official said Trump is pushing to make Iran “pay a price” for alleged violations of memoranda of understanding and for actions that resulted in US casualties.
