July 20 — SAMR director Luo Wen and Thailand’s minister of commerce signed a memorandum of understanding between the State Administration for Market Regulation and Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce to cooperate on intellectual property enforcement. The MoU establishes coordinated IP-protection measures including exchange and dialogue, enforcement information sharing, and training of enforcement personnel to strengthen joint IP enforcement capacity.

China foreign minister Wang Yi met a cross-party delegation from the European Parliament foreign affairs committee. Wang said history and present realities show China and the EU are partners, not rivals, with deeply intertwined interests, and that they share similar stances on multilateralism, support for the UN and free trade. He urged both sides to treat the relationship as a partnership when addressing bilateral issues, avoid politicizing economic and trade matters or securitizing exchanges,
