Nearly 200 US utilities and data-centre operators, including NextEra Energy,
Duke Energy, Equinix and Digital Realty, have signed a White House-backed pledge
to absorb incremental electricity costs from AI model operations to limit upward
pressure on residential rates, the Wall Street Journal said citing a White House
signatory list. The administration plans for President Trump to formally
announce the commitments at an EPA event on Thursday; Louisiana Governor Jeff
Landry and Georgia Governor Brian Kemp have also signed and are expected to
attend.
