July 22 — CUSTOMS director Sun Meijun told a State Council Information Office briefing that CUSTOMS will advance a Smart Customs partnership plan, leveraging China’s lead in smart customs to better support high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. She said CUSTOMS will accelerate an “AI+” customs initiative to drive global customs digitalisation, build broader interoperable connectivity for information exchange, mutual recognition of supervision and law-enforcement cooperation, and expand trade links to share AI-derived benefits with more countries, especially in the Global South.
