Spokesperson Lin Jian said at a July 22 briefing that China this week submitted
to the UN Global Cybersecurity Standing Mechanism a position paper on global
cyber governance in the digital‑intelligence era. The paper calls for respect
for national digital sovereignty, affirms countries’ right to choose their own
development paths for digital‑intelligence technologies including AI and to
select AI technologies, products and services without being coerced to take
sides. China said this principle follows its cyber‑sovereignty stance and
expressed willingness to cooperate with other parties to steer international
cyberspace governance toward a more just, reasonable and effective order and to
build a shared‑future community in cyberspace.
