Nikkei reports Toyota Tsusho plans cumulative investment of 1.2 tln yen (about $7.4 bln) by March 2028 to become the world’s largest end-of-life metal recycler. In India, where it currently runs three vehicle recycling centers, the company will double staff to about 100 and expand the local recycling-center network as end-of-life vehicle recycling demand is expected to continue rising with India’s auto market growth. Toyota Tsusho also extracts rare metals from EV and other used batteries in Japan and intends to expand that business into the US and other overseas markets.
