July 23 — In a leaked investor meeting, DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng said
Chinese AI compute faces a historic replacement opportunity, arguing domestic
chips have no hardware or ecosystem adaptation barriers and that NVIDIA cannot
block the substitution. He said capacity is the only current constraint and
expects market perceptions that domestic chips are unusable or inferior to
reverse within a year. Liang said NVIDIA's CUDA ecosystem moat is rapidly
eroding and that export controls and concurrent industry shifts have opened a
window for domestic AI chips. He said DeepSeek has partnered with Huawei,
secured 16,000 Huawei 950 cards to validate the stack, and claimed Huawei's 950
supernode matches and can fully substitute NVIDIA GB200/GB300 on performance and
price.
