KOSPI volatility has prompted South Korean retail investors to shift capital into US equities, KSD's Seibro portal said. Domestic investors net bought $2.879 billion (≈4.26 trillion won) of US stocks from July 1-21, more than four times June's net purchases; roughly $1 billion of that flowed in over July 20-21. Retail demand, which earlier concentrated on US mega-cap tech and index ETFs, has broadened to AI-related semiconductor names and high‑risk leveraged ETFs. Year‑to‑date flows showed net purchases of $4.499 billion in January before turning to net sales in April; net buying resumed in June and intensified in July.
