Colombian government issued a decree on the 23rd declaring a one-year national disaster to pre-position resources against a likely intensification of El Nifio in coming months, warning of potential severe, persistent shocks to water resources, food supplies and public electricity services. The decree tasks Colombia’s National Disaster Risk Management Unit to coordinate national, local and private-sector efforts focused on water conservation and supply, food security, energy transitions for rural and low-income households, public-health surveillance and forest-fire prevention.

The China Association for Enterprise Reform and Development released the 2026 Energy Industry Ecosystem Report, saying that over the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–25) wind and solar installed capacity historically exceeded thermal power. Nuclear operational capacity remains the largest globally and biomass power installed capacity has ranked first worldwide for seven consecutive years. Investment in national energy key projects topped 3.5 trillion yuan in 2025 for the first time, up about 11% YoY. Wind and solar installed capacity rose from 530 GW in 2020 to 1,840 GW in 2025.
