Typhoon No.12 Hongxia is forecast to make landfall overnight July 25–26 along
the coast between Hong Kong and Huilai, Guangdong, likely at typhoon or
strong-typhoon intensity. The system is expected to persist, bring large
cumulative rainfall and carry a high disaster risk. At 06:00 on July 25 the
Central Meteorological Observatory issued a typhoon orange warning, a heavy-rain
orange warning and a severe-convective-weather blue warning. After comprehensive
assessment and emergency consultation, the China Meteorological Administration
activated a Level II emergency response for major meteorological disasters
(typhoon, heavy rain, severe convective weather).
