South Korea's President Lee announced at a high-level San Francisco meeting the
government will position the country as a trusted AI semiconductor production
base and supply partner and formally released the San Francisco AI Declaration.
The meeting included global tech executives and Korean conglomerate chiefs,
including Samsung Electronics chairman Lee Jae-yong and SK Group chairman Choi
Tae-won. Lee said: "South Korea will achieve leapfrog development and become an
irreplaceable core country in the global AI supply chain." He added: "Leveraging
Korea's world-leading competitiveness and production capacity in memory chips,
Korea will become a trusted AI chip production base and supply-chain partner."
