Vinylene carbonate (VC), an electrolyte additive for lithium-ion batteries,
averaged 200,000 yuan/ton on July 24, up more than 40% in just over a month,
Baichuan Yingfu data show. On July 23 the price jumped 20,000 yuan/ton in a
single day, topping 200,000 yuan/ton for the first time in over four years. The
surge spurred a sharp rally in A-share VC-related names, with multiple stocks
including Furi Co. hitting daily trading limits on July 23. Market participants
report tightening supply: most VC producers are rationing volumes and have
stopped shipments if payments are even one day overdue.
