The Hill — Republican Senator Bill Cassidy said on Sunday it 'seems unlikely' President Trump will quickly end the war in Iran and urged the president to seek a congressional path to peace. Cassidy called for a fuller national debate on how to proceed, said a rapid end would be welcome but appears unlikely despite assurances, and criticized Trump's handling of the conflict with attention to its impact on cost of living. In May, after failing to retain his Senate seat, Cassidy was one of four Republican senators who supported a War Powers Resolution calling for withdrawal of U.S. forces deployed to Iran.
