On July 27 local time, three separate shootings in South Africa’s Western Cape
Cape Town area killed 11 people and wounded at least three. In Gugulethu two
armed men entered a home and opened fire, killing five people (four men and one
woman) and wounding one; victims were aged 19–30. In Khayamandi near
Stellenbosch four people were killed; police responding came under fire,
exchanged shots with suspects, and two officers were wounded; authorities
recovered a 9mm pistol at the scene. In Manenberg two men were shot dead and a
74-year-old woman was wounded by a stray bullet.
