State Taxation Administration director Hu Jinglin told a State Council
Information Office briefing on July 28 that tax exemptions and reductions under
livelihood-focused policies in 1H rose 11.8% YoY. Some 126 mln people claimed
personal income tax special additional deductions for pension, medical,
education and employment—up 5.9% YoY—delivering tax cuts of more than 320
billion yuan, up 8.2% YoY. Tax authorities, working with the Ministry of Human
Resources and Social Security, expanded a pilot occupational‑injury protection
scheme for new forms of employment nationwide from July 1, cumulatively
benefiting 29.1 mln people.
