July 28: South Korea's KOSPI plunged 10.84% to 6,023.63 as Samsung Electronics fell 13.39%, its largest one-day drop in 18 years, and SK Hynix tumbled 14.65%, roughly halving from June highs. Several Korean outlets linked the rout to the IPO/listing of China's largest semiconductor firm ChangXin Memory, saying investors fear funds raised could accelerate its catch-up with Samsung and SK Hynix. Z-Ben Advisors analyst Peter Alexander told CNBC that, by analogy with steel and electric-vehicle sectors, ChangXin could rapidly capture low-end memory market share and ultimately challenge the dominance of Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron.

SpaceX (SPCX.O) shares trade roughly 20% below their IPO price. On Tuesday morning the stock fell more than 5% to about $107, extending the sharp post-IPO drop from June highs. Market capitalization has declined roughly $1.2 trillion from its June 16 peak, among the largest market-cap evaporations on record. Investors have rotated away from high-risk tech amid heightened geopolitical tensions and concerns that heavy AI-related spending has distorted supply-demand and valuations in the sector. Market participants are also watching an Aug. 6 lock-up expiry that will free about 911.5 million shares valued at roughly $116 billion.
