Houthi forces said on Tuesday they fired a ballistic missile at Saudi tanker "NCC Ghazal" in the Red Sea, accusing the vessel of breaching their maritime blockade of Saudi Arabia and ignoring warnings. A Houthi military spokesman said the ship was forced to turn back.

An advisory panel to Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare recommended on Tuesday raising the national average minimum hourly wage by 4.9% to ¥1,176 (about $7.18) for the current fiscal year. The ¥55-an-hour increase is the second-largest on record, though below last year’s 6.3% rise, would cover more than 50 million workers and is expected to be phased in from October after prefectures set specific rates. The wage gain supports the Bank of Japan’s effort to create a wage-driven demand–inflation virtuous cycle, strengthening the case for further tightening as a weaker yen raises import energy and food costs and squeezes household spending.

ONS data show London's population fell by about 27,000 to roughly 9.1 million at mid-2025, reversing a record set the prior year. This is the first decline since the 1980s outside the pandemic outflow, and London was the only English region to shrink last year. ONS attributes the loss mainly to net migration to other parts of the UK as high housing and living costs push some residents out. The city had dipped in 2020–21 during COVID but recovered to a record high over the next three years before this reversal.
