SK Hynix shares dropped nearly 12% after the company reported Q2 operating
profit of KRW 60.54 trillion (about $41.6bn), a 557% YoY increase but below
analysts’ KRW 63.55 trillion consensus. The company said continued expansion of
AI infrastructure is boosting demand for memory and other products. The stock
had fallen 14.7% the day before and has cooled from a June record high amid
investor concerns over overbuying risks, the memory market cycle and the
sustainability of AI-driven demand.
