The surge is producing a sustained, structural increase in smartphone BOM costs; flagship BOMs are nearly 50% higher YoY, with DRAM now the single most expensive component, overtaking the SoC. Introduction of 2nm flagship SoCs will add further upward pressure on BOMs; even if OEMs raise retail prices, aggregate gross margins are expected to remain slightly below 2025 same‑generation flagships.
