German media report BMW plans to cut roughly 8,000 jobs globally by end-2027 to
reduce costs. The program is due to begin this October and run through end of
next year. BMW expects about €1 bln of one‑off charges, including voluntary
severance for German non‑production staff; the severance offer will be limited
to Germany. The company expects more than half of the reductions to be in
Germany. As of end‑2025 BMW had about 154,500 employees worldwide, more than
80,000 in Germany.
