Meta Platforms (META.O) narrowed its 2026 capital expenditure outlook to $130–145 bln from $125–145 bln previously.

On the morning of the 29th the Shiite militia Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) said US and Saudi strikes on its bases across Iraq killed at least 20 and wounded 32. The PMF said strikes hit its headquarters in Baghdad, Wasit, Nineveh, Basra, Kirkuk, Karbala and Diyala and damaged multiple facilities, vehicles and military equipment. The statement described the action as a dangerous escalation and a serious violation of Iraqi sovereignty; Iraqi authorities are monitoring the situation and casualty and damage assessments are ongoing.

The Australian government has pledged A$4m for a feasibility study into a refinery in Western Australia, a project that could become the country's third refinery. Six of eight Australian refineries have closed over the past 20 years; the two remaining facilities operate with government support. If completed, the plant would be the first large refinery since the 1960s, but Australia would likely still need to import crude given largely depleted domestic fields. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the review is intended to boost preparedness amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.
