MOFCOM released its 2025 assessment of China’s national economic and technological development zones. In 2024 the zones generated 15.4 tln yuan of GDP, equivalent to 11.4% of national GDP. Zone tax revenues accounted for 25.8% of their host prefectural-level cities’ tax receipts, up 1.1 ppt YoY. As of end-2024 the zones hosted 1,096 listed companies, +5.3% YoY. Goods trade totaled 10.6 tln yuan in 2024, 24.1% of China’s imports and exports; high-tech product trade was 2.8 tln yuan, 23.8% of national high‑tech trade. Actual used foreign investment in the zones was 26.84 bln dlr, 23.1% of the national total.
