INSEE said France’s GDP rose 0.2% QoQ in Q2, reversing a 0.1% contraction in Q1 and matching forecasts. The rebound was driven by a pickup in domestic demand and a rebound in exports, helping the eurozone’s second-largest economy avoid recession. Germany, Italy and Spain are due to publish Q2 GDP on the same day. Higher oil prices have pushed up inflation, squeezing household spending and weighing on investment, though Europe has so far broadly coped with the impact of the US‑Iran war.
